In what might come as a source of tourist attraction, Bhutan’s national butterfly can now be sighted in Trashigang. A Bhutanese bird watcher and photographer spotted the butterfly for the first time at the Shoskum hill area between Khentongmani and Khaling Gewogs.

Turf culture has been popular for some years in cities overseas, as well as in the country. While most of the districts in the country now have artificial turf football grounds, Pema Gatshel still lacks the facility.

Being inspired by the spirit of volunteerism, a 37-year-old man has come forward to fill potholes of the eleven-kilometre Gewog Centre road in Chaskhar under Monggar district. He embarked on the mission last weekend. And within two days, he was able to fill potholes of nearly nine kilometres of the stretch.

As the country reopens its borders today, about 30 tourists paying the revised Sustainable Development Fee of 200 USD arrived at the Paro International Airport. They are among the more than 90 tourists. The rest are on the old SDF of 65 USD.

In Phuentsholing, the border gates were opened at about 9 this morning. Prime Minister Dr Lotay Tshering inaugurated the opening ceremony. Thousands of people crossed the newly built Pedestrian Terminal on Day 1 of the border gate reopening.

The international border gates of Samdrup Jongkhar, Sarpang, and Samtse districts have been reopened this morning, heightening the excitement level of the residents there and others from across the borders.

There’s more good news tomorrow. Along with the border reopenings, people across the country will be celebrating Thruebab or Blessed Rainy Day. The auspicious time to rinse oneself to cleanse bad deeds starts at 12:25 in the afternoon tomorrow.

As Bhutan prepares to open its doors to guests once again, the Tourism Council of Bhutan launched and adopted a new brand to promote the country. The new Brand Bhutan with the tagline ‘Believe’ was unveiled by the Prime Minister in the presence of other government officials and dignitaries today.

The health ministry's pilot project to enhance care for patients living with non-communicable diseases is recognized at the global level. Health Minister Dechen Wangmo virtually received the award of the 2022 UN Interagency Task Force and the WHO Special Programme on Primary Health Care, yesterday. This is a part of the UN General Assembly side event.
