Lack of technician forces Trashigang district hospital to discontinue pap smear service

The pap smear service at the Trashigang district hospital is temporarily discontinued due to the absence of cytology technician. A cyto technician works on cell samples to examine abnormalities that could lead to illness or cancer. Because of this situation, women in the region are facing difficulties since they have to either travel to Monggar or wait for the health screening camps.

93 per cent of individuals in priority group administered booster dose

More than 93 per cent of the health ministry’s priority group has received their booster dose for COVID-19. The week-long booster dose campaign ended yesterday. The ministry rolled out the booster dose campaign across the country amid concerns of the new Omicron variant taking global COVID infections to record high. 

Government to import affordable fertilisers from India and Bangladesh : Agriculture Minister

The government is working to import affordable fertilisers from India and Bangladesh. During the meet the press session yesterday, the agriculture minister Yeshey Penjor said they are working to import 2000 metric tons of fertilisers from India. Farmers in the country have been facing a shortage of chemical fertilisers for the past two years.
