PDP recommends government direct colleges to take in students to their fullest capacity

People's Democratic Party (PDP) calls on the government to direct private and government colleges in the country to take in students to their fullest capacity. The party posted a news release on its official Facebook page today recommending the government take measures to ensure high school graduates are provided the opportunity to pursue further studies.

Bhutan to receive AstraZeneca vaccines from Denmark

Denmark is going to give around 250,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines to Bhutan to help inoculate the population for the second jab. The health ministry confirmed this. However, the date of arrival is yet to be ascertained.

Tsirang to have multi-sports hall by end of this year

By the end of this year, sports enthusiasts in Tsirang will have better facilities to play various games. The Bhutan Olympic Committee is constructing an indoor multi-sports hall in Damphu town. The sports facility will have volleyball, basketball, badminton and table tennis courts. The hall will also provide space for boxers and karate enthusiasts. 

Tashichhoeling Gewog in Samtse under lock down

Lockdown in Tashichhoeling Gewog in Samtse has been extended by one week till 9th July. The District COVID-19 Task Force announced this yesterday after failing to ascertain the source of the virus in the last three days. All primary contacts of the man who tested positive earlier this week in Tashichhoeling Gewog tested negative.

OAG adds three new divisions

The Office of the Attorney General has three new divisions. The divisions are Judgment Enforcement, Financial and Corporate and International Affairs and Environment divisions. With the new divisions, the office will now be able to restitute funds and compensations timely after the judgment. The office can also recommend the government regarding procurement and related issues and international laws.

Relative of Pekarzhing landslide victims apologizes for posting video

A video recording of the landslide that claimed two lives at Pekarzhing went viral on social media yesterday. The sister-in-law of the deceased's husband recorded and uploaded the video at around 6 AM yesterday. However, she uploaded another video today apologizing to the public for posting incomplete information.

Outdoor gyms in need of maintenance

To promote a healthy lifestyle among people, the health ministry had set up outdoor gyms some six years ago. But today,  parts of the gym equipment are broken in some parts of the country. And one can hardly see any maintenance works. As per the health ministry, the outdoor gym's maintenance and restoration were handed over to the respective districts and thromdes.
