A tiger is reported to have killed a bull yesterday at Karshong village under Nubi Gewog in Trongsa. And another bull in the same village injured a few days ago by the tiger also succumbed to injuries yesterday.

Residents of Kanglung in Trashigang welcomed the mass anti-rabies vaccination drive in the gewog. Due to the high number of stray dogs in the area, residents are worried about their safety amid the looming threat of a rabies outbreak. Over 600 domestic animals including pet dogs, stray dogs and cats were vaccinated.

Access to safe and reliable drinking water supply has been one of the major challenges for people of Kamji in Chhukha. The UK variant of coronavirus also known as Kent variant that has been spreading around the UK appears to be undergoing some worrying new genetic changes according to scientists. Tests on some samples show a mutation, called E484K, already seen in the South African ones that are of concern.

A fire accident yesterday at Raling chiwog under Nanong Gewog in Pema Gatshel left a 60-year-old woman homeless. She lost all her belongings to the fire which completely burned down her single-storeyed traditional Bhutanese house. 

Paro Police forwarded eight different cases of alleged breaching of lockdown protocols to the district court today. They will be charged under Section 410 of the Penal Code of Bhutan. 

The number of new cases of COVID-19 reported globally dropped for the third week in a row, last week. This is according to the World Health Organisation (WHO). The WHO said that the falling rate of global Coronavirus cases has been encouraging news but warned governments and individuals to keep their guard up as new variants spread.
