Towards making the pillars of justice stronger

Bench clerks who are considered as the pillars of justice are said to be facing challenges in the interpretation of laws. They assist the judges in judicial proceedings including analysis of the cases and drafting of the judgements. To build the capacity of the bench clerks, the Bhutan National Legal Institute (BNLI) is training them on the interpretation of laws in Paro.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) cleared the former Prime Minister, Dasho Tshering Tobgay of misusing Nu 3 M of government fund for the construction of a compound wall and security infrastructure at his private residence at Taba.

Rabies outbreak in Sarpang

There is an outbreak of rabies at Jigmeling under Dekiling Gewog in Sarpang. Four children, one adult and about 10-15 stray dogs were reported to be bitten by a suspected rabid female dog on 18th November at Jigmeling near RBA camp and DOR colony. 

RCSC’s 3rd Retreat on mindfulness for Civil Servants

Following the positive feedback received from the previous participants, 28 senior civil service leaders participated in a five-day mindfulness retreat program in Tsirang, which ended today. This is the third program of its kind. The Commission has prioritized these slots to those in a leadership position and senior civil servants.

TCB officials found clean

Of around thirty officials from the Tourism Council of Bhutan (TCB), none tested positive for a drug test conducted yesterday. The drug test for its officials was the first mile of the Council's journey towards achieving a drug-free tourism sector in the country.

The state of the CAB

Construction Association of Bhutan (CAB) was formed in 2012 to develop and promote the Bhutanese construction industry and to represent the industry at the various national and international levels, but today the association is on the verge of collapse without enough resources to even maintain its office and staff.

Increase in external assets but NIIP slips, RMA

Bhutan's external assets, as of this June, hit USD$ 1.2bn, which is an increase of 16 per cent compared to that of December 2018. This was revealed by the Royal Monitory Authority’s (RMA) monthly statistical bulletin.
