Tsirang’s stalled bypass road to finally see the light of day

Construction of the 1.8-kilometre bypass road in Tsirang, which was started seven years ago, is expected to be completed before the second deadline. The construction, which began in 2008-09 financial year, was stopped the same year, after completing only 800 metres due to budget shortfall.

Man found dead outside a bar

A body of a 54-year-old man was found outside a bar in Chubachhu, in Thimphu, this morning. Forensic officials were not able to ascertain the cause of death owing to the lack of forensic facilities. They did not find any physical injuries.

Tighten National Referral Hospital’s security, patients say

Thimphu police have apprehended a 21 year-old man, who was caught on CCTV, allegedly running away after robbing two patients at the National Referral Hospital’s ward. He was detained yesterday. The crime had taken place on January 24.

The National Referral Hospital in Thimphu will be reintroducing a medical technique which will allow a painless childbirth. Pregnant women will receive injection at the lower back through a technique called Epidural Labour Analgesia.

RCSC calls for action against civil servant found acting in films

Royal Civil Service Commission (RCSC) is forwarding a directive to a government agency after a civil servant was found acting in Bhutanese films. The letter directs the agency to take appropriate administrative actions against the civil servant as he was found violating Bhutan Civil Service Rules and Regulations.

Brand Bhutan’s official colours are Yellow and Maroon

The official colours for ‘Brand Bhutan’ are Yellow and Maroon. Economic affairs’ Department of Trade says they chose the colours as they depict purity, simplicity, country’s pristine environment, and Gross National Happiness.
