Another batch of 12 Black-necked cranes has arrived in Bumthang, making it a record arrival of the cranes in last three decades. Twenty two Black-necked cranes had arrived in Gyetsha village in Bumthang, last month. This time, eight new cranes were sighted in Chokortoe and four in Tang gewog. Earlier, only about 15 to 16 cranes came to Bumthang.

A falling tree hit a man, killing him on the spot, in a nearby forest of Chelela in Haa, yesterday afternoon. The man, in his forties, had gone to the forest to collect firewood for a funeral in his village. The tree, which was also being felled for the same funeral, had hit him. The deceased is from Tsento gewog in Paro.

The Food Corporation of Bhutan Office in Gelegphu is gearing up to produce 1000 metric tons of rice, as per the agreement signed with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forests.

A 54-year-old female tourist from Thailand died after falling from a cliff at Paro Taktshang. The deceased was returning from the Taktshang, when she accidentally slipped from the cliff edge, opposite the monastery. Police said the deceased had fallen off from the edge of the steps where there was no fence. The body of the deceased was recovered with the help of police, army, Desuups and other volunteers.
