A few landowners, whose land was taken for the construction of the Gelegphu airport, are still not happy with the latest land substitution. This time, they were offered the 27-acres between the airport and Gelegphu-Sarpang Highway.

Built in the 1960’s, the auditorium of Sherubtse College is in dire need of a facelift. The auditorium has also suffered damage from the 2009 earthquake. It was renovated twice since but the auditorium is still needs a major facelift.

The public transport bus service between Zhemgang and Gelegphu has been discontinued for about two weeks now, much to the chagrin of the locals.

The forest Fire in Wangdue Phodrang has been contained, earlier today. Over 11,000 acres of forest is said to have been destroyed by the fire which raged for six days.

An art exhibition titled “Impressions of Happiness” is underway in Singapore. The exhibition is a first visual arts collaboration of Bhutanese and Singaporean artists. The eight-day exhibition opened last Friday evening and runs till Friday this week.

A shop in Phuentshogling town lost goods worth over Nu.370,000 in a fire incident. The incident happened at around 2.30am, today. The goods included kitchen items like rice and curry cookers, water boilers and melamine items.
