More than a hundred farmers from various Gewogs in Dagana attended a day-long biodiversity fair in Dagapela on the 30th of December. The fair showcased seeds and practices among different farming communities. It also created awareness on the importance of maintaining crop diversity, and conservation efforts in the country.

A fire in the early hours, yesterday, completely razed three houses to the ground in Katsho Gewog in Haa. It is not known yet how the fire started.

Forest fire in Haa contained

A forest fire in Haa, which started last Friday, was finally contained, yesterday. A fire-fighting team of 80 people including army personnel, forest officials, and locals brought the fire under control at about 10am.

Man sentenced for attacking with a Patang

The Gelegphu Dungkhag Court has sentenced a 38-year-old man to five years in prison for attacking another man with a weapon. The man, who is from Serthig Gewog under Samdrup Jongkhar, also has to pay Nu.100,000 as compensation to the victim.

First Druk Gyalpo and his men in colour

It took him three years of intricate effort to come out with the coloured version of the First Druk Gyalpo’s photograph. Deo Narayan, an entrepreneur, dedicated three hours every day, on the project for the last three years, to transform the black and white photograph of the first Druk Gyalpo Gongsar, Ugyen Wangchuck, into a coloured version.
