The Ministry of Education launched a CD on Alui Trolu a collection of nursery rhymes in Dzongkha in Thimphu, today.

Rigsum Institute of IT and Technology has introduced Rigsum Sherig Collection. The software allows students to access study materials from a computer without internet.

The First session of the second parliament will began from 11th of this month. The session, which was scheduled on Saturday, this week was postponed  for next week. The Assembly Secretariat said this was done because of unavoidable circumstance.

The Prime Minister and the Bhutanese delegation, who were on a six days official visit to India arrived back in Bhutan yesterday afternoon. While in India, the Prime Minister called on the Indian Prime Minister, the President, UPA chairperson and met with other top Indian officials. Lyonchhen also visited HITEC city in Hyderabad.

After more than a year, the commercial space on the first floor of the Thimphu TechPark, the country’s first IT Park was developed in May, this year. The right wing is occupied by the ScanCafe, a US registered firm. ScanCafe specialises in digitising and editing older formats of photography and video.  The company has already employed more than 130. They are expecting to create additional jobs. The left wing which has been developed is still vacant.

Of the 147 economies around the world, Bhutan ranked 109 on providing friendly environment and incentives to businesses. The study was carried out by the World Economic Forum in Switzerland. The report was released to the media by the Bhutan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, yesterday.

(Update:) The Chief Operations Officer of Royal Bhutan Army, Major General Batoo Tshering, said of the five soldiers injured in an explosion at the ammunition disposal site in Haa, one is in a critical condition.

A Bhutanese woman was detained at the Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok for supposedly carrying illegal substance. She was detained on Sunday along with two other Bhutanese nationals by the Thai Authorities, when during a random check, five kilograms of an illegal substance called Ketamine, was found in the suitcase that the three were sharing.
