Daga Higher Secondary School and Drujegang Higher Secondary took away the title of the Intra District Sports tournament. The tournament was held in Daga Higher Secondary School yesterday. Both the teams scored equal after competing in various indoor and outdoor sporting event.

Pema Gatshel’s old age home

Pema Gatshel Dzongkhag has a home for old age and elderly people. It is located at Phara, around eight kilometres away from the Pema Gatshel town. There are 20 of them living there right now. Some of the people said that the home would go a long way in helping the elderly people in the Gewog live a peaceful life by reciting prayers.

Man killed by falling futsal post

A 20-year man was killed after the futsal post at Changlimethang fell and hit the chest. The incident occurred at around 2:30 pm today.

A herd of yaks was released as Tshethar in Tsento Gewog in Paro today. Four pregnant yaks and a bull, were rescued. The villagers paid Nu. 175,000. The amount was contributed by the villagers and few residents of Paro and Thimphu. The animals will be kept at Soe Yasain Tsento Gewog.

Joint Technical Field Survey in September in Pasamlung, Bumthang

(Sino-Bhutan Talks update): The 21st Round of Border Talks between Bhutan and the Government of the People’s Republic of China agreed to conduct Joint Technical Field Survey in the first week of September in Pasamlung area in Bumthang. The meeting was held today.

Ro-Ngoedrup-Chen- an animation series launched

A 2D animation series programme titled ‘Ro-Ngoedrup-Chen’ was launched today. The animation based on local content was launched by the Information and Communications Minister, D.N Dhungyel. Animation series like this are aimed to familiarise children with the local folk tales, legends and mythology, which will help to promote local content.

Dorokha Idol 2013

It was a fun fiesta. The three-day annual sports and cultural event in Dorokha had it all- from sporting competition to singing competition. Dorokha Idol, a singing competition, was popular drawing a huge crowd, according to our reporter, Karma Wangdi.

Arrow hit patient airlifted to Thimphu, in stable condition

Kinley Drukpa, 20, from Lunana who was hit by an arrow from a compound bow yesterday was air lifted by a helicopter to Thimphu this morning. Doctors at the Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Referral Hospital said the surgery went well and he is stable now.

Tsebar Dung and Jaling makers trained to make better products

The art of making Dung and Jaling is nothing new for the people of Tsebar in Pema Gatshel. It has earned them their living for decades now. However, it was found that the quality and texture were not good. So, to produce better quality and also to update their skills a 10-day training was organised for 35 artisans.
