Fifth Abduction

Another Bhutanese man has been abducted, this time from the Datgiri Thursday market area in Assam. The market place is a few kilometres away from the Gelegphu border gate and is frequented by most of the Bhutanese living in Gelegphu. The incident took place on Thursday.

Chortens vandalised In Trashigang

Two chortens were vandalised in Trashigang, last week. A Mani Dangrim Chorten has been vandalised in Jonlha village under Radhi Gewog and a Jangchup Chorten in Mantsang Village under Bartsham Gewog. The Jangchup Chorten in Bartsham was vandalised on Saturday night.

Trashiyangtse police has detained two shopkeepers for illegally selling tobacco products. The police seized more than 300 packets of tobacco from the two shopkeepers. The police, following a tip off, had raided the shops and detained the shopkeepers.

 

DPT reassured and confident after His Majesty’s command: Kinga Tshering

The Druk Phuensum Tshogpa (DPT) submitted their 15 points petition letter to His Majesty the King, yesterday.

Tshering Tobgay unanimously elected as PM-elect

The President of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Tshering Tobgay, was unanimously elected as the Prime Minister-elect, today. He was elected through a secret ballot by the MP-elects of PDP.

DPT to submit a petition to His Majesty

The Druk Phuensum Tshogpa (DPT) will submit a petition letter with 15 points to His Majesty the King. This was decided at the DPT party convention held in the capital, today.

No BCSE for graduates registered as members of political parties

The graduates who participated in politics will not be allowed to sit for the preliminary of the Bhutan Civil Service Examination (BCSE). The Bhutan Civil Service Rules and Regulations 2012 states that a candidate shall not be eligible to appear for BCSE if they have participated in politics and not completed the required “cooling off” period of three years.

MPs’ elect awarded certificates of election

The Elected Members of Parliament of the National Assembly received their certificates of election, today. The certificate awarding ceremony was held at the Election Commission of Bhutan.

National Junior TT team leaves for New Delhi

The National Junior Table Tennis team left for Delhi in India to participate in the South Asian Junior Table Tennis Championship, today. The championship is a qualifying match for Asian Junior Championship to be held in Qatar, this year.

France congratulates Bhutan on successful election

After the EU high representative and the US state department, it is now France, who congratulates the Bhutanese people and the elected members of the parliament.
