The Druk Phuensum Tshogpa (DPT) has appealed to the people to forgive the two parties for their failure to conduct their electoral process that befits Bhutanese culture. In a press conference, the DPT President Jigmi Y Thinley said the rest of the electoral process will be conducted in an appropriate way.

Fined and reprimanded for bribery

Amidst rumours that unfamiliar faces from Thimphu are in the villages of Monggar trying to sway voters, Sonam Dorji, 43, who is from Takchu in Monggar has been imposed a fine of Nu.3,000 and reprimanded for bribery.  It had been five years since he last visited his village.

Single-storied house gutted

A fire gutted a single storied shop in Doomchog, in Haa yesterday. According to the shopkeeper, the fire started from a gas cylinder which then spread to other parts of the shop. Everything was lost to the fire.

The Druk Phuensum Tshogpa’s President and the Senior Party leaders are in the capital to discuss the impact of the sudden withdrawal of LPG and kerosene subsidy by the Government of India, a release from DPT says.

After much row over the truck parking fees, truckers and Phuentshogling Thromde have finally come to an agreement. It has been agreed at Nu.80 for a 24 hours parking and Nu.15 for two hours or less. This decision comes after about a month since the issue first surfaced.

48 graduates to be recruited as English teachers in Thailand

Some 48 Bhutanese graduates will be recruited as English teachers in vocational colleges in Thailand this year. This was discussed recently in a meeting with a 12 member Thai delegation who are in the country.

Stop writing or posting unacceptable materials: ECB

The Election Commission of Bhutan (ECB) has, through an official letter, urged journalists as well as Social Media users to, in their own words, “stop writing or posting unacceptable materials that undermine, defame and ridicule”.
