Druk Nyamrup Tshogpa introduced eight more candidates, including their first female candidate. Dorji Choden, 53, will contest from Thrimshing-Kangpara Constituency in Trashigang. She is Bhutan’s first woman engineer and has served the government for more than 20 years.

Education City’s DPR to complete in nine months

The Detailed Project Report of the Bhutan Education City is expected to be complete in about nine months. The two Indian companies, which will construct the education city, IL&FS Township and Urban Assets Limited and Infinity, have hired a consultant to work on the report.

Ten officers of the Royal Bhutan Police have been promoted to the rank of Majors and captains today. Eight officers were promoted to the rank of Major while two officers to captains.  The officers received Tashi Khadar from the Chief of Police, Brigadier, Kipchu Namgyal.

Assaulters apprehended in Gelephu

Two boys have been detained by the Gelephu police on Saturday for assaulting a taxi driver. Ganja Bahadur Rai, 39, has been discharged from the Gelephu hospital, after receiving treatment for the injuries he sustained during the assault.

Roads cleared

(Update:) Some 15 passenger buses stranded in Thimphu have left the capital even as Dochula opened to traffic this morning.  The works to clear the road blocks caused by heavy snowfall at various locations, including Thrumshingla's, are still continuing.
