Monggar Dzongkhag’s court is likely to have the highest matrimonial cases registered in the country. Most of the cases, the district court receives, are to do with marriages, divorces, and domestic issues. About 5-10 cases are registered with the court every day and most of them are matrimonial cases.

Government defends its stand on advertisement controversy

The government does not have a hand in ECB's decision to select the three media houses, states a press release from the Prime Minister’ Office (PMO). The press release goes on to say, the advertisement revenue from the government must be spread out,  to as many media houses as possible, and not just to the three that the ECB has mentioned, for a vibrant press and for democracy.

If you think the Prime Minister, Jigmi Y Thinley, is tweeting on the micro-blogging site twitter, then you are wrong. The tweet page bearing the name of the Prime Minister is created by none other than a person who is impersonating the Prime Minister.

11 people hospitalised from suspected food poisoning

Eleven people from four families, including one male, have been admitted in Damphu Hospital in Tsirang after they suffered from diarrhoea, vomiting and fever today. All the patients had consumed locally baked cakes from Damphu town on Saturday. The eldest from the lot is 53 years old and the youngest three years old.

Man sentenced for raping a minor

The Gelephu Dungkhag court sentenced a 34-year-old man to nine years in prison for raping a minor. The verdict was announced last week. The man is from Phangkhar in Zhemgang.

BOB launches VISA credit cards

Bank of Bhutan Limited launched three types of Credit cards in the capital today. The BoBL VISA International Gold Card has credit worthiness up to US$ 3,000. The card can be used in countries other than India, Bhutan and Nepal.
