Safe house for domestic violence in Bumthang

Respect, Educate, Nurture and Empower Women (RENEW), a non-profit organisation meant to empower vulnerable women will soon set up a safe house in Bumthang Dzongkhag. The house will provide shelter and counseling to victims of domestic violence and other gender based violence like rape and incest. It is on command of Her Majesty the Queen Mother Sangay Choden Wangchuck, the founder and the president of the RENEW.

Erratic water supply for Phuentsholing core town

Residents of core Phuentsholing town areas have been recently experiencing erratic water supply. They get water for about 30 minutes, which they say, is barely enough to fill their water tanks. Even that 30 minute water supply has stopped from yesterday, according to our reporter, Sonam Wangdi. Previously, they were supplied water three times a day for two hours each.

Their Majesties attend Paro Tshechu

The annual Paro Tshechu began today. His Majesty the King and the Gyaltsuen graced the opening. RMA directs not to issue Rupee in cash

All the banks in the country have stopped issuing Rupee in cash for the time being. The move comes after a directive from the Royal Monetary Authority. The RMA’s notification says, the general public have been taking advantage and misusing the facility by drawing significant amount of Rrupee on a daily basis, for hoarding.
