For the need to amend the National Council Act 2008, the Legislative Committee of the National Council prepared the National Council Amendment Bill 2014. The Legislative Committee said the bill was drafted to prevent any anomalous in the law. So, the bill was tabled for discussion in the house on Thursday.
The National Council resolved that serving councilors who intend to contest for the next elections can do so without putting up the resignation. This is because the National council is an important institution with the responsibility to review the government and issues of national interest. The house also decided that anyone aspiring to contest for the next National Council elections must now have minimum work experience of ten years.
