Every time a lockdown happens, it becomes difficult for people to avail themselves of the routine essential healthcare services. But the Gelephu Hospital started mobile clinic services this lockdown as well to continue medical services. The team has helped more than 1,000 people so far.

The team starts the day as early as 8:30 in the morning and goes to different places. The mobile clinic service started last month.

As informed by the local leaders, people who need services wait for them at the strategic location. With the Gelephu Hospital already becoming overwhelmed with COVID-19 cases, people fear going to the hospital.

“We don’t know where the virus came from but it infected our village at once. I don’t know how the virus came in. I am worried. So, we are staying away from the crowd,” said Indra Lal Kafley, a resident.

Sarpang has been under lockdown since January 16. And ever since, the district has been detecting COVID cases from the community.
