A 65-year-old man named Guru Tsewang cultivated castor plants in five acres of government leased land in Hoomdar, Trong Gewog in Zhemgang on a trial basis lat year.  This was the first time that Castor plants which are used to produce Castor oil was cultivated in Zhemgang.

Initially, Guru Tsewang was quite skeptical to take up the mass cultivation of castor because none of the farmers in the region had tried castor oil cultivation. However, with a successful harvest, this is now expected to change.
