The suspect, who battered a policeman at Babesa in Thimphu, is being charged with criminal attempt to voluntary manslaughter and assault.

The Office of the Attorney General forwarded the case to the court, last month. The bench IV of the Thimphu District Court conducted its opening hearing, today.

On June 27, the man, in his mid twenties, allegedly hit the police personnel on his head with a blunt object.

The Police was on duty looking out for suspects involved in a stabbing case. The victim was discharged, after undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit of the National Referral Hospital for nearly three weeks.
