Lucky draw added colour to the celebration of the National Day in Thimphu today. Many, who had come to be part of the celebration at the Changlimethang Stadium, had at least a coupon each.
Of the thousands, 16 were lucky and took home cash prizes, laptops, and home appliances, among others.
There were other prizes such as power tiller, a pulsar bike, and cycles but none were lucky enough to win them.
The lucky draw, sponsored by corporations and agencies, was organized by home ministry and Thimphu Dzongkhag.
“I told my wife to get up early so that we don’t miss the celebration. Lucky draw is helpful for people like us,” said a resident of Thimphu, Lotey Gyeltshen.
A student, Kinzang Dorji said he came to Changlimethang to be part of the National Day celebration. “When I reached here, I saw the lucky draw coupons. I didn’t expect to win but if I win, I will be happy.”
Taekwondo display, traditional dances, mask dances and the band from Royal Bhutan Army also entertained the audience.
The celebration ended with the Tashi Laybay.
