Leprosy, a forgotten disease?

Leprosy.It was said that Bhutan reached the leprosy elimination stage some 10 years ago, but the disease was not eradicated completely.

With the elimination of the disease, surveillances were also decreased.

But this has led to increasing cases of late detection of leprosy in recent times. This year alone Gidakom hospital saw 13 new leprosy cases so far.

To discuss more on this, we had in our studio, Dr. Dorji Wangchuk, the director general of the Public Health, and Dorji Khandu programme officer from Leprosy control programme.
