Karma Choki of Samtengang School wins golden youth

Karma Choki of Samtengang School wins golden youth--Queen Mother, Tshering Pem Wangchuck gave away the 8th Golden Youth Award to Karma Choki, at YDF centre in Thimphu, on Friday. Karma Choki, 16,  is a class 10 student of Samtengang Central School in Wangdue Phodrang.

Karma Choki + Samtengang School+ Winner +Golden youthKarma Choki will now be able to pursue her higher studies abroad on Youth Development Fund Scholarship.

“I feel on the top of the world,” said Karma Choki. She said, through the competition, she realized it is not good to stick to what you can do but is important to be open to opportunities.

Certificates and medals were also awarded to the runners up; Yangchen Tshering Penjor from Dr.Tobgyel school, Tenzin Choki from Jakar Higher Secondary School, and Pranita Powdyel from Yebi Laptsha Middle Secondary School.

Winners of other categories, such as Dzongkhag young scientist, Dzongkhag quiz competition, and Dzongkhag debate competition were also awarded certificates and medals.

About 80 students from across the country took part in the week-long camp at Nazhoen Pelri in Thimphu.
