The National Referral Hospital referred 22 patients and 30 attendants to Kolkata on Monday. This, according to officials with National Referral Hospital, is the first time patients were referred to Kolkata since March.
Amongst the 22 patients, there were also four children below five years of age. The patients referred suffered from cancer, heart problems, eye diseases and neurological problems that required immediate surgeries. The National Referral Hospital said these patients could not be treated in Bhutan.
They were all flown out on the repatriation flight that also brought back 10 patients and 15 attendants who were in Kolkata for more than 6 months.
