The 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, where Bhutan also secured a spot in Archery, are predicted to be postponed by one year amid the coronavirus pandemic. However, neither the International Olympic Committee (IOC) nor the Tokyo 2020 organising committee had announced a decision to postpone as of yesterday.

The game was originally scheduled to bring over 11,000 athletes from around the world to Tokyo in July this year. However, one of the veteran IOC members said that the game is postponed to 2021 due to coronavirus.

Due to the extreme complexity of the Games, initially, a final decision was not made, and IOC said that discussions will be finalised within the next four weeks.

Many countries like Canada, Great Britain and Australia announced their decision to withdraw from this summer’s game. These countries’ Olympic committees also called for the Games to be postponed until 2021.

So far, the Olympic games were cancelled only at times of world wars and were never rescheduled in peacetime.
