As a follow-up on the promises the Druk Phuensum Tshogpa made during 2008 elections, the Prime Minister visited Lhayuel village in Chhudzom Gewog under Sarpang Dzongkhag yesterday. Lyonchhoen Jigmi Y. Thinley was in the Lhayuel to see the progress of the ongoing construction of a farm road and electrification of the village.
Lyonchhoen said roads expedite economic development and that it is the responsibility of the government to provide the basic amenities to the people. Lyonchhoen added that he owes a personal visit to places where development activities lag behind.

The Information and Communications minister Nandalal Rai accompanied the Prime Minister.
The Executive Engineer of Department of Roads said, Dorji Wangdi, said the farm road till the gewog centre will be completed soon.
And just about 10 percent of the electrification has been complete. The work was to be completed by this month.
According to Bhutan Power Corporation’s Regional Manager, Karma Wangchuk, they could float the tender for the electrification only in August this year. “We are given a time period of 12 months that is till September 2013. We could not start early because budget from JICA was delayed and we got delayed by more than three months.”

Karma Wangchuk also said they had problems with transportation of materials for building as there was no proper road.
The Regional Manager of Bhutan Power Corporation said by June the gewog centre will be electrified. Chhudzom is one of the most remote gewogs under Sarpang Dzongkhag.
