A couple aged 97 and 94 died in a fire accident in Panbang, Zhemgang earlier this morning. According to a source, a traditional Bhutanese house where the couple resides burnt down completely at around 1 am.
Eyewitnesses at the scene said when they came to know about the fire incident, it was too late and they could not do anything as the fire has already become uncontrollable.
Residents in Panbang say they do not have a fire brigade even after their town has been graded as town ‘B’ Yenla-thromde of Zhemgang dzongkhag.
