His Majesty grants audience to Deputy Chief of Army Staff

Lt. General Virender Singh Tonk (Right)

His Majesty the King granted an audience to the Deputy Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Virender Singh Tonk, at the Tashichhodzong earlier this morning.

The General Officer was commissioned into 6 RAJPUT in November 1971 and immediately took part in action with his Battalion in East Pakistan. He also took command of the same Battalion during the peak of insurgency in Jammu and Kashmir from 1991-1994. During his command the unit was awarded the prestigious COAS Unit Citation.

An alumnus of Sainik School, Defence Services Staff College and National Defence College among others, the General Officer during his illustrious career has held various important posts.

Lt. General Virender Singh Tonk has been awarded AVSM for his distinguished services.

The Lt. General Tonk also met with the Chief Operations Officer, Major General Batoo Tshering.
