His Holiness the Je Khenpo appointed Khenpo Karma Wangchuk as the new Lam of Wangdue Phodrang’s Phangyuel Samtenchhoeling Monastery at the Tashichoedzong today. His Holiness also conferred khadar to ten new monks who will join the newly established monastic school.
44-year-old Khenpo Karma Wangchuk from Phangyuel Gewog in Wangdue Phodrang started his monastic education at the age of eleven in Pung-Thim Dratshang. He received teachings from His Holiness the Je Khenpo and former Je Khenpos. He completed his master’s studies from Mysore in India. Prior to his current appointment, he served as the principal of a private monastery in Paro.
