The 770 Megawatt Chamkharchhu Hydropower Project in Zhemgang is expected to improve the livelihood of many people in Zhemgang. The construction of the project will take-off beginning next year.
Chamkharchhu Hydropower Project is one among the 10 projects identified to produce 10,000 MW of power by 2020.
The Prime Minister, during his recent visit to Zhemgang, said it is high time that the people reap benefit from the project.
The project’s area will begin from Nimshong till Digala in Zhemgang.
The Prime Minister also said a lot of development of infrastructure like schools, health units and bridges will come up once the project begins.
Druk Green Power Corporation and NHPC will oversee the construction of the project.
The project is expected to be complete by 2021.
