The three central schools in Trashi Yangtse still did not receive the school shoes for more than 1700 students for this academic session.

The tender for the supply of school shoes was awarded to Druk Shoes, a private shoe firm based in Phuentshogling towards the end of last year. However, the supplier had failed to supply the shoes.

In absence of school shoes, students of the Baylling, Kuezangling and Tsenkharla Central Schools have been wearing other shoes in the school.

School authorities say without school shoes, they faced difficulties in maintaining uniformity among the students.

“The supplier could not supply the shoes on time despite reminding him several times,” Karma Phuntsho, the Principal of Tsenkharla Central School, said.

“In August, we had sent a letter to confirm whether he will be able to supply the shoes. Accordingly, he called us last month requested us not to cancel the tender and that about 75 per cent of production is over. But we still did not get the shoes,” Karma Phuntsho said.

Meanwhile, the school managements have now ordered shoes from Dodo Shoes, another shoe firm. The shoes are expected to reach the schools in two weeks time.
