Bhutan records more than 200 daily cases for four days in a row

With 250 new cases of COVID-19 reported in the last 24 hours, the country has now seen more than two hundred cases every day for four days in a row. The cases reported today are from ten districts. Meanwhile, 139 people recovered today.

The highest number of cases was reported from Samdrup Jongkhar with 76 cases. Samdrup Jongkhar Thromde recorded 37 cases from the community and 30 contacts. Dewathang recorded a single case from the community, while Jomotshangkha and Samdrupcholing recorded seven and one contact cases respectively.

In Chhukha, the daily case has again gone up by seven cases compared to yesterday. The district reported 53 new cases with 13 community cases, 38 contacts, and two imported cases in Phuentshogling, Gedu and Chongeykha.

Similarly, Samtse also saw a drastic increase in its daily cases. The district recorded 51 new cases today, however, all are contacts of earlier cases.

Sarpang, meanwhile, has recorded 28 new cases. Ten of the cases are from the community, while the other 18 are contacts.

Wangdue Phodrang’s daily case count saw a steep decline today. From 68 new cases yesterday, the district saw only 16 new cases today. Petekha reported a community case, while Bajo reported two community cases. Samthang and Basochu reported four contact cases each. Thangu reported two contact cases and Bjimithangka reported a contact case. Two domestic travellers also tested positive in Bajo and Chuzomsa.

In Pema Gatshel, Nganglam recorded 14 contact cases.

A contact case was reported from Haa, four from Paro and two from Punakha. All of the cases were detected from quarantine facilities.

And, Thimphu reported five new cases. Three are contacts from Changangkha and two from Babesa.
