The Bhutan Airlines received its new Airbus 319 aircraft, today. It replaces its older plane whose lease expires this month. The new 122-seater plane has been bought on lease for a period of two years from an international aircraft leasing company.
The CEO of Bhutan Airlines, Phala Dorji said along with the new aircraft, the crew and staff will all be Bhutanese. He also said the company aims to draw in customers by focusing on improved customer services and efficiency rather than starting a fare-war with the competitor Drukair.
Bhutan Airlines plans to expand its flight routes to Delhi and Kathmandu soon. It also plans to add a second plane by October this year.
