His Majesty grants land kidu in ChhukhaHis Majesty the King granted land kidu to 7011 beneficiaries from 11 gewogs in Chhukha, yesterday. The beneficiaries, who have been using state land for years without ownership, received 8,143 acres of land as kidu.

Along with the land kidu, over Nu 36M would also be refunded for those who have been paying penalty for using state land and Nu 56M due for payment by the beneficiaries would also be waived off.

The kidu program started with offering of Ku-Sung-Thuk Ghi Mendrel by the Rabdey, Dzongkhag and the people of Chhukha to His Majesty the King.

Addressing to the kidu recipients, His Majesty reminded the people of the importance of land. His Majesty advised the people to make good use of the land that was being granted to them. His majesty said, land was very special and it empowered those living off it to build a bright future for their children.

Chhukha is the 14th dzongkhag to receive land kidu in the nationwide exercise to resolve all accumulated land issues. His Majesty also assured the people that once the first round of land kidu is completed in all the 20 dzongkhags, the second round would commence to ensure that whatever land issues still remain would continue to be resolved.

The kidu recipients said they are blessed and deeply moved by the concern of His Majesty for the people.

Hundreds of people of the Dzongkhag who had gathered at he Dzong to meet His Majesty the King offered Tshogchang to His Majesty. His Majesty spent time interacting with the people and hosted Tokha to the people.

Later in the evening, His Majesty also granted audience to the dzongkhag officials, corporate employees and the local government representatives.
