Following the cluster transmission of COVID-19 in Thimphu, the Bhutan Football Federation (BFF) suspended the ongoing Bhutan Women’s National Championship 2020 being held in Punakha. This is to make sure that those who travelled from Thimphu and other high-risk areas get tested.
”If the situation improves, we will resume the championship in two days,” said one of the officials.
Since Wednesday last week, eight matches have been played so far. In line with health protocols, no spectators were allowed inside the ground during the matches, except for guests, players, and officials. They also had to comply with safety protocols such as temperature checks and washing hands before entering the ground.
The last match was played yesterday, between Paro United Women’s FC and Phuentshogling United Women’s FC. It ended in a draw.
