Road users in Thimphu are continuing to complain about the poor condition of road in several parts of Changangkha and Mothithang.

The road woes in the areas started after Thimphu Thromde dug up roads to lay sewer pipes. The dug-up roads have been filled up but it is yet to be blacktopped.

Motorists say the road condition is worsening by the day as the potholes are filled with rain water.

“Sometimes, the potholes are filled with dirty water,” said Pema Norbu, a taxi driver. “It could be sewage. We don’t know who should be held responsible for it.”

Another taxi driver, Chandra Bahadur Tamang, said it would help a lot if the roads could be fixed soon. “We find ourselves  stuck in traffic all the time,” he said.

Thimphu Thromde officials, meanwhile, say the works are nearing completion and that the problems would be solved soon.
