Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Bhutan calls on Lyonchhen

Amb-SriLankatoBhutan-Prasad Kariyawasam+PrimeMinister-Tshering TobgayThe Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Bhutan, Prasad Kariyawasam, called on the Prime Minister, Tshering Tobgay, at the Gyalyong Tshogkhang, this morning.

Mr.Kariyawasam is in the country to attend the 12th RoundTable Meeting, which will be held this week in the capital.

Lyonchhen thanked the Ambassador for his contribution towards strengthening bilateral relations with Bhutan. Lyonchhen also expressed his appreciation for the assistance received from Sri Lanka, especially in the field of medical sciences for Bhutanese students.

There are, at the moment, 165 Bhutanese students pursuing different courses in the field.

The Ambassador, in turn, told Lyonchhen that Sri Lanka would always view Bhutan as a close friend and assured Sri Lanka’s continued support and friendship. Lyonchhen and the Ambassador also discussed joint ventures and potential economic cooperation.
