Tsendugang is one of the far flung villages under Naja Gewog in Paro. The village does not have basic health facilities. Owing to its remoteness, villagers are deprived of timely awareness on health related issues.
A group of health staff from Paro dzongkhag visited the village recently. It is the first awareness programme for the villagers on health related issues given by the health staff. Otherwise radio is the only source of information.
Villagers said such programmes are of immense help and benefitted them a lot.
According to the Dzongkhag Health Officer, Dechenmo, most of the people in the village have blood pressure problems. She said high consumption of dairy products like butter and cheese have led to the pressure problems. She said It is also due to lack of timely check-ups.
The nearest hospital is three hours walk to Dungna Gewog under Chhukha Dzongkhag. In summer the river swells, making it difficult for the villagers to cross it.
However as a temporary measure, a trained health worker will be provided to the village. During their visit, health officials also distributed medicines to use it during emergencies.
