LG elections for three thromdes to be held in JanuaryThe second local government elections for the three thromdes: Thimphu, Phuentshogling, and Gelegphu will be held on January 25, next year.

The incumbent thrompons or tshogpas wishing to re-contest will have to resign from their office prior to the nomination process which begins tomorrow.

The scrutiny of nominations of the candidates and election campaign will start next week.

Unlike the first thromde elections, this time, elections will also be held for Thromde Thuemis.

In run-up to the elections, the Election Commission of Bhutan will conduct public meetings as part of the voter education programme and public debates for the thrompon candidates.
