Tens of thousands gather to observe the National Day

107thNationalDay-Tens of thousands of People gathered at Sherubtse ground in Kanglung, Trashigang, to mark the 107th National Day celebration, today.

People of Trashigang and nearby dzongkhags celebrated the day with His Majesty the King and His Majesty the fourth Druk Gyalpo.

Upon arrival at the College gate, His Majesty the King was received in traditional Chipdrel ceremony.

The celebration began with Marchang ceremony and Guard of Honour by the Armed forces and the DeSuups.107thNationalDay--

Her Majesty the Gyaltsuen, Her Majesties the Queen Mothers, Members of the Royal Family, Prime Minister and Members of Parliament were also present.

To mark the Day, various cultural programmes were showcased by the students, armed forces and many others. Lottery drawings were also conducted.

The government offices, schools and institutions remained closed today to mark the day.

It was on this day in 1907, the Trongsa Penlop, Ugyen Wangchuck was unanimously enthroned as the first Druk Gyalpo of Bhutan.
