SJ Initiative begins another project

SJI-new projectThe Samdrup Jongkhar Initiative (SJI) is implementing a project called “Climate change mitigation through reduced use of fuel wood and waste management”.

The project, at Shedra Chokyi Gyatso Institute, is funded by UNDP implemented Global Environment Facility’s small grants programme of US$ 23,000.

The core component of the project is to develop a sustainable waste management system in the Shedra, to make the institute the first Zero Waste Monastery in Bhutan.

The fund received has gone into building a network of waste segregation station, a material facility, and a composting facility.
