(UPDATE) An outbreak of Influenza A has now been reported in Damphu Lower Secondary School, in Tsirang. One student, out of 15 samples collected, tested positive of Influenza A yesterday.

Around 40 students also showed influenza like illness. The school has been closed, starting today, to prevent the spread of virus among the students.

From July 22 till today, Damphu hospital recorded over 280 people with flu like symptoms. Out of that so far only 10 people tested positive of influenza A.

The outbreak of H1N1 has been confirmed by the National Public Health Laboratory in Thimphu last Saturday, after three out of five samples tested positive.

Hundreds of people yesterday rushed to receive the remaining doses of H1N1 vaccine.
