Ground breaking ceremony for ‘Democracy House’ held

HM-salang tendrel-ECB The Salang Tendrel or the ground breaking ceremony for the construction of the Head Office of Election Commission of Bhutan was held today.  Her Majesty the Gyaltsuen graced the ceremony which was presided over by His Holiness the Gyalse Trulku.

The Election Commission of Bhutan’s (ECB) Head Office, Democracy House will be constructed at 65 decimal land at Kawajangsa.

The Chief Project Coordinator said the construction works will begin immediately. The five storied building will cost around Nu.128 million. It is being with funded by the Government of India.

The office is expected to be complete by December 2015.

ECB also have plans to construct Election Office in all the 20 dzongkhags.

Meanwhile, an exhibition of photographs of electoral activities, carried out by the Election Commission of Bhutan since its inception was displayed. ECB-DemocracyHouseECB-DemocracyHouse.
