Beginning next month, it is not mandatory for the foreign workers to be routed through foreign workers’ recruitment agents.  This is in keeping with the labour ministry’s circular issued earlier this month.

The decision is being met with criticisms from the agents who say their business will suffer greatly when the new rule comes in place.  This was the topic of discussion in our news hour yesterday. The Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Human resources, Pema Wangda was on the panel.
