PDP challenges DPT

PDP-Press-Conference--22-June-2013The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) will write an appeal letter to the Election Commission of Bhutan (ECB) for a presidential debate to set the record straight, PDP said in a press conference held in Thimphu, today.

PDP’s South Thimphu candidate, Tandin Wangmo, said the senior former ministers including the former Prime Minister have been misleading and confusing people in the recent times. “For instance, DPT President said that PDP have bribed the media to defame DPT. If that is true, we challenge the DPT to take this case to ECB, who takes care of all the electoral laws. If that doesn’t happen, it will be established that all that is lie and done to confuse the people.”

The PDP also says, this is the time when parties should inform people on the pledges and how they plan to achieve them. “DPT, instead of speaking about their manifesto, are criticizing the PDP’s pledges,” said Tandin Wangmo. She said in all the common forums, PDP candidates speak about pledges, which will benefit the common people. “DPT’s candidates do not talk about their manifesto. They criticize and attack our pledge. We believe that they are doing this to hide their corruption cases going on in the country.”

PDP also says DPT has been taking all the credits all the development activities. “But when it comes to failures the DPT have been blaming other institutions,” said the South Thimphu Candidate.
