DNT- CampaignDruk Nyamrup Tshogpa (DNT) officially launched its campaign and manifesto at 5:30 am at Centenary Park at Changlimithang in Thimphu, today.

Druk Nyamrup Tshogpa’s President, Dorji Choden gave the manifesto to an old woman, a farmer, a businessman and a young boy in a symbolic gesture of Druk Nyamrup Tshogpa’s commitment and pledge to the people of Bhutan.

“From the foot of Lord Buddha, we would like to take our first step in this new time to bring peace, prosperity and happiness to the people of Bhutan,” she said.

She also they would like to start their campaign from Changlimithang because of the historical importance attached to the venue.

The Battle of Changlimithang in 1885, described as Bhutan’s last civil war, consolidated Sir Ugyen Wangchuck’s authority as the undisputed leader and established the foundation for monarchy which brought peace, prosperity and happiness to the country.

“Everyone knows Changlimithang’s rich history. Our ancestors collectively gathered here and began laying the foundations for a peaceful path. My prayer is that in all 20 districts, 205 gewogs and 47 constituencies, our DNT campaign should go successfully, without any obstacles or mishaps,” said the DNT’s president.
