With the raising of 108 Jangchub Chortens scheduled for November first, spiritual preparations are underway. His Holiness the Je Khenpo began a three-day See Drup ritual at Sarpang Dzong today to ward off negative influences, remove obstacles and invoke blessings for the successful completion.
His Holiness is presiding over the ritual alongside 50 Drubpoens, who are performing prayers and religious rites to ensure the auspicious beginning of the raising of 108 Stupas.
The ritual is part of the spiritual preparations leading up to the construction of the 108 stupas along the Mau Chhu in Gelephu.
“The main purpose of conducting this ritual is to ward off negative influences, clear obstacles, and invoke blessings as the 108 Jangchub Chorten project approaches its commencement. The ritual will be performed for three days,” said Khenpo Tashi Tshering, Zhung Dratshang.
Preparations for the sacred relics to be placed inside the stupas are now complete. The zungs are currently being packed for transportation to the respective construction sites.

After the three-day ritual, His Holiness the Je Khenpo will visit all 108 sites to perform See Nen rituals ahead of the main ceremony on November first.
The rituals mark a key stage in the spiritual preparations for the raising of 108 Stupas, seeking blessings for the successful construction and consecration.
