Football fans can expect a more intense and competitive season as the first round of matches in the BOB Bhutan Premier League concluded yesterday. Match Week One delivered dominant wins, dramatic comebacks, and strong performances, signaling a highly competitive title race this year. The final match of Match Week One saw Transport United FC defeat Tsirang FC 2-1 yesterday at the Changlimithang Stadium.
The BOB Bhutan Premier League kicked off on Saturday at the Changlimithang Stadium. Newly promoted side Thimphu FC faced last season’s first runner-up Thimphu City FC in the opening match. Sadic scored the league’s opening goal in the fifth minute before Thimphu City added two more goals to secure a 3-nil victory and a clean sheet in the Thimphu derby.
Defending champions Paro FC faced newly promoted Drukpa FC at the Woochu Sports Arena. Paro FC led 2-1 at halftime, but Drukpa FC staged an impressive comeback in the second half to seal a 4-2 victory.
In the third match, RTC FC took on Tensung FC. RTC FC led 1-nil in the first half before adding three more goals to complete a dominant 4-nil win.
The fourth match featured BFF Academy against Ugyen Academy at the Changlimithang Stadium. BFF Academy secured a 3-1 victory and collected all three points.
In the final match of Match Week One, Transport United FC came from behind to defeat Tsirang FC 2-1 after Tsirang FC opened the scoring in the second half.
At the end of Match Week One, RTC FC, Thimphu City FC, Drukpa FC, BFF Academy, and Transport United FC have all secured three points each.
Match Week Two begins on Saturday with Drukpa FC taking on Ugyen Academy at the Changlimithang Stadium. Ten teams are competing for this season’s title, with fans expecting more thrilling matches and surprising results in the weeks ahead.
