Bhutanese footballer Pema Zangpo is set to begin a new chapter in his career, after agreeing to join Yarmanya United FC in Myanmar. The attacking midfielder, who is widely known by the nickname “Vampire”, will join the club in the Myanmar National League for a three-month spell. This will be his first move abroad.
Pema, who began playing football at the age of ten, earned his place in national team in 2023, when he was 18 years old.
Since then, he has represented the country in numerous regional and international tournaments.
Before joining Yarmanya United FC, the 20-year-old midfielder spent a year playing with RTC FC.
For Pema, the move is more than just a contract. He calls it an opportunity to test himself in a more competitive environment.
“I saw this as a valuable opportunity to challenge myself and perform at a higher level. Playing on an international platform allows me to gain exposure, improve my skills, and grow as a footballer. I wanted to push myself to do better, learn from a new football environment, and represent myself with dedication and discipline.”
Pema also hopes to open doors for fellow Bhutanese football players.
“I want to bring the experience, knowledge, and exposure I gain back to my country and use it to contribute to the development of football at home. I also hope to help open doors for other talented players from my country by showing that with dedication and hard work, opportunities at the international level are possible.”
Yarmanya United FC is a professional football club based in Myanmar. Founded in 2024, it competes in the Myanmar National League, the country’s top-tier football division.
As he begins this new chapter, all eyes will be on Pema Zangpo as he carries Bhutanese hopes onto the Myanmar football stage.
