The Central Regional Referral Hospital in Gelephu, in collaboration with the Khesar Gyalpo University of Medical Sciences of Bhutan, inaugurated the Health and Medical Research Centre in Gelephu today.

The new centre is expected to enhance clinical practices and support evidence-based medical decisions. It will also support the development of health policies through high-quality research. The centre plans to collaborate with both national and international institutions to achieve these goals.

Choeda Gyaltshen, Medical Superintendent at the Central Regional Referral Hospital in Gelephu, said the new research centre will initially be run by staff interested in research, with opportunities for others to join. He highlighted that the centre will improve patient care, build research capacity, strengthen global partnerships, and enhance emergency preparedness and response.
